Madagascar’s Institute of Applied Research (IMRA) has developed a herbal remedy for corona virus called “Covid Organics”.
The President, Andry Rajoelina, who officially ensorsed the drink in a ceremony in Antananarivo on Monday, stated that the beverage had been tested and proven on two patients and would be effective within seven days.
While downing a dose of the drink, he said: “I will be the first to drink this today, in front of you, to show you that this product cures and does not kill.”
According to the Malagasy Institute of Applied research, Madagascar, the drink had been principally made from Artemisia annua —a green leafy plant that emits a striking odor also known as sweet wormwood and would be distributed across Madagascar free of charge.
“COVID-Organics will be used as prophylaxis, that is for prevention, but clinical observations have shown a trend towards its effectiveness in curative treatment,” Director General of the IMRA, Charles Andrianjara had pointed.
The president further lifted lockdown in three main cities in the country as 121 cases of covid-19 and 39 recoveries had been recorded so far.
